Bring a pot of salted water to boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions.
While the water is boiling and the pasta is cooking heat the oil in a pan on medium high heat and add the tomatoes. Cook for 3-5 minutes until the the tomatoes burst. Add the garlic and cook for another minute
Save 1 cup of the pasta water before draining the pasta into a colander or use a spider skimmer to remove the pasta and add to the pan.
Add the basil, parmesan cheese, salt and pepper and toss to mix everything well. Add ¼-½ cup of pasta water to create a smooth sauce. Serve while still hot and top with additional basil and parmesan cheese if desired.
