- 1 cup water
- 1 cup brown sugar packed
- ½ cup pumpkin puree
- 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1 tablespoon bourbon
In a saucepan heat all of the ingredients over medium high heat. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to medium.
Continue to cook, stirring frequently to prevent burning, until the syrup has reduced by half. The syrup should coat the back of a spoon.
If you want a smooth sauce strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve.
Pour into an airtight jar such as a mason jar.
