Ingredients
 
 

  • 2 pounds flank steak

Marinade

  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce reduced sodium
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar packed
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1 tablespoon ground mustard seed
  • 1/2 tablespoon paprika
  • 1/2 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon thyme

Herb Butter

  • 1/2 cup butter unsalted, softened
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon zest
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon garlic minced
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons chives fresh, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon parsley fresh, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon thyme
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl whisk the all of the marinade ingredients together. Pour into the freezer bag and add the steak. Squeeze out as much air as possible and marinate for at least 2 hours up or overnight. Make the herbed butter by mixing all of the ingredients in a mixing bowl until evenly combined. Place onto a sheet of cling film wrap around the butter to form a tube then twist the ends to seal. Roll into a log and refrigerate.
  • Preheat the oven to broil or grill.
  • Place the steak on a sheet pan and place about 6 inches under the broiler. Cook for 5 minutes on one side and 3-5 minutes on the other side depending on the thickness.
  • Take out and let rest for 10 minutes.
  • While the steak is resting heat the marinade in a saucepan until it boils. Remove from the heat and strain if desired.
  • Slice steak into strips across the grain and drizzle with the marinade. Serve with herbed butter.
