One of the best things about this spice blend is that these ingredients are found in most kitchens so you should have most of the ingredients already handy. This recipe makes about a cup of the blackening seasoning. That means you will have plenty to use for other recipes. However if this is going to be used as a dry rub for large portions of meat such as pork ribs then you will want to double or triple the recipe to make sure you have enough.

  • 6 tbsp brown sugar packed
  • 3 tbsp black pepper
  • 3 tbsp garlic powder
  • tbsp onion powder
  • tbsp oregano
  • tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • ½ tbsp cumin

  • In a mason jar add all of the ingredients. Close the lid and shake until all are mixed evenly.
