This blackening seasoning packs a little heat and has just a little sweet to wake up those taste buds. It goes well on shrimp, fish, chicken or beef. Sprinkle it on your veggies right before you toss them on the grill.
Whether it be for chicken, shrimp, beef, of fish this spice blend is very versatile. It also works well with almost every method of cooking. This will be one of your go-to spice blends and is very easy to make. Some examples of recipes that this works well with are Baked Scallops and Shrimp, Cornish Game Hens, and Roasted Eggplant.
What's in blackening seasoning?
One of the best things about this spice blend is that these ingredients are found in most kitchens so you should have most of the ingredients already handy. This recipe makes about a cup of the blackening seasoning. That means you will have plenty to use for other recipes. However if this is going to be used as a dry rub for large portions of meat such as pork ribs then you will want to double or triple the recipe to make sure you have enough.

If you have a mason jar or another jar with an airtight lid such as pickling jars then those are a great place to store the spice blend. If this is the only spice blend then don’t worry about labeling it however if you have other spice blends like apple pie spice or pumpkin spice blends you will want to label each jar.
